There is no fixed minimum order quantity. For prototype and development work we can run as few as 20-50 parts. For production runs, the economics of injection moulding generally make it most cost-effective at volumes of 500 parts or more per run. Talk to us and we will give you honest advice.
Tooling lead times depend on complexity. Simple single-cavity tools can be completed in 4-6 weeks; complex multi-cavity tools with hot runners or side actions typically take 10-16 weeks. We can give you a specific lead time as part of our quotation.
Injection moulding melts thermoplastic material and injects it into a closed mould under pressure. It is fast, automated and suitable for complex shapes and high volumes. Compression moulding places a charge of thermoset material in an open mould, which is then closed under heat and pressure to cure the component. Broanmain is one of the few UK companies offering both processes.
Yes. We accept tool transfers and are very experienced at taking over tools from other moulders. We will inspect the tool, carry out trial shots, and let you know if any refurbishment is needed before we start production.
We process a wide range of thermoplastics including PC, PC/ABS, PA6/PA66 (nylon), POM (acetal), PBT, ABS, PP, PE and PEEK. We also process thermoset materials including phenolic, DAP, epoxy and DMC/BMC via compression and transfer moulding.
We are ISO 9001:2015 certified, with BSI certificate FM09878. We have held ISO 9001 certification since 1989. Our quality manager is a BSI Lead Auditor and Six Sigma Green Belt. We welcome customer audits.
Yes. Our in-house toolroom provides a complete design and build service. We review your component design for mouldability (DFM analysis), design the tool using CAD/CAM, build it in our toolroom, and carry out all trialling and sampling.
Quality control is embedded throughout our process. We inspect incoming materials, conduct in-process checks at defined intervals during production, and carry out final inspection before despatch. We produce batch records and can provide certificates of conformance.
Absolutely. Many of our best long-term projects started as an idea on the back of a napkin. Our design and prototyping service can help you develop a manufacturable design from a concept. There is no obligation and no pressure.
We offer flexible delivery including one-off bulk deliveries, regular scheduled deliveries, Kanban call-off, and direct-to-line supply. For Kanban customers, we hold finished stock and despatch on your call-off schedule, often within 24 hours.
