Sustainable plastic manufacturing
Being a sustainable business in every sense is core to how we operate. From all-electric machines that cut energy use by 70% to waste-reduction systems and recycled packaging, sustainability is built into our production process.

Plastic, when produced and used responsibly, is one of the most efficient and low-impact materials available. At Broanmain we focus on getting the fundamentals right - using less energy, generating less waste, and making parts that last.
We recognise the industry is under scrutiny, and rightly so. That is why our approach combines long-term investment in modern machinery, disciplined production planning, and practical choices that reduce our environmental footprint year on year.

How we manufacture sustainably
Our newest machines, including the Sumitomo IntElect all-electric and the Haitian Gen 5 Mars with electric screw motor, deliver over 70% energy savings compared to traditional hydraulic machines. We are progressively replacing older machines with energy-efficient alternatives as part of a long-term investment programme. Additional measures include PowerBoss phase correction equipment, heat insulation on barrel heaters and automated lighting systems.
Our Kanban and MRP systems prevent overproduction, one of the biggest sources of waste in manufacturing. Runner and sprue material is regrind where the material specification allows, and our automated cells reduce human handling errors that lead to scrap.
We use recycled packaging materials and deliver direct to customers to minimise transport stages. Where customers return packaging for reuse, we are happy to accommodate.
Injection moulding is inherently one of the most energy-efficient and low-waste manufacturing methods for plastic components. Compared to machining from solid stock, injection moulding wastes a fraction of the raw material and uses significantly less energy per part at volume.
